Job Description:

The Chromatography Team Lead performs a variety of laboratory procedures using established methods and techniques. Chromatography Team Lead supervises and works alongside Laboratory Technicians and Scientists in their daily operations and tasks. Chromatography Team Lead conducts experiments, some moderately complex and conducts and interprets routine laboratory data. Chromatography Team Lead cleans, disinfects and maintains laboratory workspace and equipment. Chromatography Team Lead has extensive knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures. Chromatography Team Lead relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and performs a variety of tasks. Chromatography Team Lead leads and directs the work of others and requires a wide degree of creativity and latitude. Chromatography Team Lead will ensure daily operations are being completed in a correct and timely manner. Chromatography Team Lead will manage projects and act a senior scientist and assist other Team Leads and less-experienced analysts. The ideal candidate will have great attention to detail and will be friendly, flexible, team-oriented, and able to multi-task. Other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will lead a flexible and dynamic team that works together to meet challenging demands that are essential to our clients’ operations. Primary duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Daily Standard adherence, ensure group has tools needed to perform their work, track group working stock and communicate supply needs to Assistant Laboratory Manager.
  • Meet with group daily to prioritize daily tasks and production requirements.
  • Perform monthly 1-2-1 meetings with group members and provide feedback.
  • Plan, schedule and track individual training progression, coordinate with other Group Leads to determine cross-functional training opportunities and/or assist with production with production needs.
  • Ensure coverage for employee absences.
  • Maintain data logbooks and ensure results are entered/uploaded into LIMS.

Education and Experience

  • This is a mid – level supervisory position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or related field or 7 years of laboratory experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous work in an environmental or geochemistry laboratory with any of the following methods: EPA 1664, 180.1, 410.4, SM2120B, 2540G, 2540E, 2540B, 2540C, 2540D, SM 4500-O G, 4500-P E, 5210B, 5540C or work in an environmental microbiology laboratory would also be relevant.

  • Completes assigned duties as described by SOP
  • Act as a leader and senior scientist
  • Must have project management skills
  • Ensures less-experienced analysts are meeting deadlines and quality standards
  • Keep a clean and orderly workspace
  • Follow Quality Assurance Plan
  • Follow Safety Program
  • Assist in management duties such as performance reviews
  • Must be able to be an effective leader in absence of Assistant Laboratory Manager

Compensation: $25-30 DOE (Non-Exempt Employee)

Working Conditions: Indoors, temperature-controlled laboratory environment.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, dayshift. Overtime and occasional weekend or holiday work may be required.

Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
