The Bureau of Mining Regulation and Reclamation (BMRR) has updated and revised the Profile I parameter list to include total uranium. As described in BMRR’s February 22, 2022 memo to Water Pollution Control Permittees, effective July 1, 2022, BMRR is revising Profile I to remove uranium (dissolved) and replacing with uranium (total) analysis. Dissolved metals are analyzed following filtration at 0.45 µm, preserved with HNO3, and digested. Total metals are analyzed unfiltered, preserved with HNO3, and digested. Due to this change, an additional 500mL HDPE bottle with HNO3 will be provided for the Total Uranium analysis. According to the memo, a concentration of the total uranium ≥0.030 mg/L may require a Profile 1-R on subsequent sampling events. BMRR’s memo has been included for your reference. If you have specific questions, please contact your WETLAB Project Manager or BMRR as listed in the memo.
